Study Proves Yogurt is a No-No
/A new study says regular consumption of yogurt is not as healthy as we all think.
Previously, some studies promoted the health benefits of the daily consumption. The live strains of "good bacteria" or probiotics in certain types are good for the digestive tract and are full of animal protein, including several other nutrient found in dairy-rich foods like calcium, vitamin B-2, vitamin B-12, potassium and magnesium.
New Study: Yogurt isn't Healthy
A new study suggests that there is no link between the regular intake of yogurt and improvement of physical and mental parameters.
Researches evaluated the relationship between eating yogurt and mental improvement over a 3.5 year period in more than 4,000 adults.
The study's lead author, Esther López-García said "For future research more specific instruments must be used which may increase the probability of finding a potential benefit of this food".
Furthermore, study results also showed no definite link for individuals who had not been diagnosed with any illnesses, who had never smoked and who followed a Mediterranean diet. They pointed this out due to a thought that people without any risk factors could disrupt the relationship currently under review.
"In comparison with people that did not eat yogurt, those who ate this dairy product regularly did not display any significant improvement in their score on the physical component of quality of life, and although there was a slight improvement mentally, this was not statistically significant," López-García concluded.
The findings are detailed in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
