4 Foods That Prevent Overeating

Nutrition is key to metabolism. The pathways of metabolism rely upon nutrients that are broken down in order to produce energy. Years of overeating can cause your metabolism to slow down thus burning fat much slower. Essential nutrients supply energy (calories) and supply the necessary chemicals which the body itself cannot create. Food provides a variety of substances,  essential for building, upkeep, and repair of body tissues, and for the efficient functioning of the body.

A healthy and nutritious diet should include essential nutrients that come from carbohydrates, lipids, and protein. In addition, vitamins, minerals and water are necessary. Here are 6 foods to add to your diet to prevent overeating.

1. Green tea: Please remember that green tea is not a panacea; there is no substitute for a healthy diet, physical activity and adequate monitoring of health conditions.  In order to reap the most benefits of green tea (as measured by maximum catechin levels), be sure to let it steep for three to five minutes.  Aim to drink about three cups of tea a day.  Green tea helps fight or burn belly fat by triggering the release of fat from fat cells.

2. Hummus and Pita Bread: Having a small amount of hummus (no more than a half cup) along with 5-6 pita triangles can satisfy that savory craving and keep you full. You'll feel like you're eating something delicious and won't be tempted to go back to the cupboard.   This is also incredibly satisfying and filling due to the high-fiber intake. Stick to a 1/4 cup of hummus to keep the calories in check. For dipping, choose high-water content veggies like celery and cucumbers which help keep you hydrated as well.

3. Avocados are great for our liver because they help our bodies produce a powerful antioxidant called glutathione. Glutathione helps the liver get rid of harmful toxins. Avocados are also loaded with heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, fiber, and potassium and are extremely nutritious. They can also help lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels, help you lose weight, and may even help prevent cancer. They're also one of the greatest healthy fat sources we can consume and help stave off cravings by keeping us fuller longer.

4. Greek Yogurt: A great source of calcium and protein, greek yogurt also helps stave off cravings keeping you fuller longer. Protein is our best friend indeed for avoiding eating too much. Protein burns fat, builds muscle, keeps your fuller longer and continues to be one of the most satisfying food groups you can eat. Oh and did we mention there are some seriously delicious options? And now, new research shows losing weight highly depends on your protein intake and not just from the typical chicken but more veggies.
