Obsessive-compulsive disorder: Obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, is a condition that causes people to have persistent thoughts or fears about things that lead to abnormal behaviors in which a person will perform certain rituals or routines. People with OCD develop what are known as obsessions, while the rituals performed as a result are called compulsions.

Psychotic disorders: Psychotic disorders are characterized by a distorted way of thinking and awareness of things. Some of the most common symptoms of psychotic disorders include delusions and hallucinations. Delusions are false beliefs in things that the person suffering from the psychotic disorder thinks is real. Hallucinations are hearing sounds or seeing images that are not real. An example of a psychotic disorder is schizophrenia.

Anxiety disorders: Anxiety disorders cause people to feel an intense amount of fear in response to certain situations. People often suffer from physical symptoms such as profuse perspiration or a rapid heartbeat. It may be hard to tell whether you have an anxiety disorder or not, however if a person becomes constantly unable to control their response to feared situations, or if the anxiety interferes with their normal lives, they most likely have an anxiety disorder. Common anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorders, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder.
Impulse control disorders/Addiction disorders: Impulse control disorders cause people to be unable to resist urges, or impulses, or even to act in ways that could potentially be harmful to themselves or others. Examples of impulse control disorders include pyromania, kleptomania, and compulsive gambling. Addiction disorders often include the use of alcohol and drugs.

Eating disorders: Eating disorders are characterized by emotional and behavioral issues which cause a person to feel the need to intensely control their consumption of food and weight. Examples of eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder.
Post-traumatic stress disorder: Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, is a condition that people often develop after experiencing a traumatic event, such as a natural disaster, the death of a loved one, a domestic violence incident, sexual or physical assault, or the unexpected death of a loved one. PTSD often causes people to have long-lasting thoughts and memories of the event, which causes them to experience emotional issues.
