Do you have fibromyalgia? Here are the common symptoms

For centuries, this disease was a mystery because many people thought it was a form of arthritis. The symptoms quite differ as you'll read.  It wasn't even named fibromyalgia until the 1970s.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder that usually results widespread pain, abnormal pain processing sleep disturbance, chronic fatigue, psychological distress. It is quite common, especially among women of childbearing age. 80-90% of those diagnosed are women, but it can affect men and children as well.

Fibromyalgia can be most commonly thought of as an arthritic condition, but it technically isn't, since arthritis is disease of the joints that causes inflammation or damage. Fibromyalgia doesn't but can cause significant pain, chronic fatigue and most important it interferes with the ability to perform daily activities like getting dressed, driving, preparing a meal and so on.

However, similar to arthritis, this condition is considered rheumatic, a disease that impairs the joints and/or soft tissues which cause chronic pain.
