Listeria Found in Ice Cream Shop
/Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream Shop announced they found bacteria through routine swabbing in a production facility. Listeria is found in soil and water and it can be found in animals including cows. It's also in raw and unpasteurized dairy and can grow in cold temperatures. Jeni's company website says it gets milk from cows within 200 miles of its kitchen.
This is the second time listeria has been found at the facility in less than a month. Production has been stopped until employees can figure out how it appeared
Texas-based Blue Bell Creameries also shut down in April after listeria in its products was linked to three deaths.
