Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disease affecting over 20 million individuals in the US alone.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) estimates the annual health care costs of the disease is upwards of $128 billion. In recent years this figure has grown, mostly due to the increasing age of the population. The CDC projects that an additional 8 million people will be diagnosed in the next decade.
