Samadi's Take: 4-MU Supplements and Prostate Cancer
I recently spoke about a supplement called 4-MU for prostate cancer on Fox News. With the numerous inquiries regarding this supplement, I'd like to clarify some things about 4-MU and how it was used for prostate cancer:
• 4-MU is a supplement that is currently being used in Europe and Asia for improving liver health, NOT prostate cancer.
• 4-MU has only been tested ON MICE in a laboratory, it has never been tested on humans.
• The safety of 4-MU has NOT been proven for use in men with prostate cancer.
• Treating mice with 4-MU only appeared to inhibit prostate cancer from further developing.
For these reasons, I do not recommend 4-MU for any man with prostate cancer. While doctors and other experts often speak about new studies on various treatments and diseases in the media, this does not always mean they are recommending it to the general public. A research study simply means that the results may be useful in the future of medicine. Please do not go out and buy 4-MU or any other supplement unless it has been scientifically proven to be used safely in humans, aka it has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Always speak with your doctor before taking any drug or supplement to ensure the safety of your health.
