How To Create A Healthy Lifestyle Despite Modern Technology

Everyone enjoys living in a world of convenience, and much of this is in thanks to the modern day technology that is so readily available. This technology affects many different facets of our lives, but aside from convenience how much good is it really doing for us?

For many it can be hard to conceive that in many ways modern technology could be adversely affecting a healthy lifestyle. After all, so many people work hard to make the money they need to invest in this technology.

Living at a Snail's Pace

Ironically it can be said that most people live a hectic lifestyle. However, when you take a closer look at this, much of the hectic environment revolves around learning and using the technology that is so readily available.

For example, how many hours are spent on the computer learning how to master all those fantastic software programs that are available. All of which have been designed to make life easier. All those hours being glued to the chair while focusing on the computer screen for many hours is not what one could consider to be healthy.

At least one or two of those hours may be better spent going for a walk or being active in some type of sport. Then not to mention the tension and stress that comes with the learning curve. Whereas perhaps taking advantage of reading a good book or even playing a game of cards with a few friends would be a wonderful outlet from stress that should be part of a healthy lifestyle.  So really although the activity being carried out on the computer is "hectic" it is really living life at a snail's pace.

Is Modern Cooking Really Healthy Cooking?

Then how about the convenience of being able to simply pop dinner into the microwave, or throwing everything into a pot in the slow cooker where it can be left to cook for eight or ten hours while you are at work? This really is convenient and the argument could be made that there are lots of veggies cooking away in that crock pot.

This is true, however just how much of the nutritional value is being drained out of all those veggies because they have been cooking for so long?

A much better alternative would be to prepare the veggies the night before then have them all ready to cook once you arrive home from work. Half the time in the dinner making process goes to food preparation. The added bonus is that while the food is cooking you can go about some of the other tasks that need doing about the house, so there is no time being wasted here.

The moral of the story is that modern technology no doubt is great and it has its place. What it means though, is really taking a close look at how any of this affects your lifestyle in a negative way. By being aware of this it means that you can capitalize on the benefits of the technology but also ensure that your healthy lifestyle is being maintained.
