A new report was recently regarding the use of antibiotics in the poultry and meat of some well-known food chains including fast food and casual dining establishments. There have been previous warnings about the use of antibiotics in the country’s meat and poultry supply. The report was released by Friends of the Earth and the National Resources Defense Counsil. The majority of the restaurants received a grade F.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization have made multiple attempts to warn people about the public health threat of antibiotic resistance. It is estimated that at least two million Americans are exposed to infections as a result of antibiotic-resistant every year. About 23,000 people die from these infections every year as well. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration which regulates the use of antibiotics in the United States says that about 70 percent of antibiotics intended for medical purposes that are sold in the country are bought for use in livestock.

·         Starbucks: Starbucks received a score of one point out of 36 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade F.

·         Domino’s Pizza: Domino’s Pizza received a score of three points out of a 34 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade F.

·         Denny’s: Denny’s received a score of three points out of 36 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade F.

·         Burger King: Burger Kind received a score of three points out of 34 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade F.

·         Wendy’s: Wendy’s received a score of nine points out of 36 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade F.

·         Subway: Subway received a score of 11 points out of 36 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade F.

·         McDonald’s: McDonald’s received a score of 20 points out of 34 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade C.

·         Dunkin Donuts: Dunkin Donuts received a score of 24 points out of 36 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade C.

·         Chick-fil-A: Chik-fil-A received a score of 25 points out of 32 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade B.

·         Panera Bread: Panera Bread received a score of 35 points out of 36 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade A.

·         Chipotle: Chipotle received a score of 33 points out of 34 possible points. This is equivalent to a grade A.
